Yessss, I haven't posted for a long, long time but since it's my holidays, here I am, backing to blogging.
Also, since I had time now, I finally got around to baking the rainbow cheesecake with oreo base. Didn't mix crushed oreos into the batter this time because I thought that it wouldn't look good. Anyways, I used 5 colours instead of 7 because I couldnt find all 7 colours. I did thought of mixing the food colouring after that but there wasn't enough batter anyway.
I used pink, orange, green, blue and purple. Here is the outcome of the cake.
Well, yes, you can see the brown area and brown spots and all, thats the slightly burned area but I am proud of the final product nonetheless.
I forgot to take a picture of a nice fat one so I got a friend to take picture of it for me. I gave her a few slices but I don't know why she took the picture of the thin slice instead. I had fat, big slices but anyway the main point is you can see the colours from the side. You can't really see the purple but it is really, really nice.
I love mee soto and I have been recommended to the most probably cheapest and good mee soto I know. Go to the hawker centre near bedok interchange/mrt - I think it's called bedok central but I'm not sure. There is only one row of malay stalls at the back of the hawker centre, and you go to Inspirasi.
Their mee soto is only $2. The chicken is not dry like other mee sotos that I have tasted and I am sure that you can see from the photo how good the chicken looks. And they're really generous with the chicken. The soup is thick enough to taste the flavour as well but it's still slightly clear. I have no idea how to make soup like this but then again, I'm still learning.
Btw the egg doesn't come with the mee soto if you're wondering. Never came across a mee soto that has eggs in it, I just added the egg because I wanted it. 50 cents.
Did I mention that I brought Prince for grooming recently? I think it was 2 weeks ago already.
I personally think that it isn't easy finding a cheap and good grooming place for cats. That was before I started to search for cat grooming places.
It isn't even easy to find a place that groom cats. I'm just saying that with the exception of PLC, as we all know, Pet Lovers Centre. Anyway, I decided to settle for PLC because I refused to go for Pets Tale or Tales or something like that at Eunos. That cat shop is beside Vegan Burg (vegetarian burger shop, good food, everyone must try it).
I remember the first time I went there and I got an unfriendly lady staff answering my questions about their food or products like if they sell this brand of cat food, how much is it? Do you have this brand of litter and all that general questions. If I am not wrong, she is probably the owner or the boss of some sort. I think she treated me in an unfriendly way because I'm young and she didn't really think of me as a serious customer like I was there to take a look and ask silly questions.
I told myself I will never go back to that shop again.
But then again, they sell persian kittens, and they have I think 2 persian cats that are theirs and the 2 cats just roam around the shop, welcoming customers and they are friendly, allowing customers (like me) who cannot keep their hands to themselves (like me) because they cannot resist (me, again) these cute ball of fluffs, to pet and stroke them.
(No, I do not know how much they are selling the persian kittens for. You can go online and check if you want. Its Pets Tales or Pets Tale. Just play around with the 's', you'll get it. Its beside Vegan Burg if you still can't find it.)
Anyway I only visited that shop again because I had lunch at Vegan Burg that day with Z and his friend, and that friend loves cats as well. He even bought Prince a small bag of catweed (catnip).
Back to the point, PLC. I called and booked an appointment with the outlet at Simpang Bedok. I enquired about the prices and asked how much would it be for full grooming for my cat. They asked if my cat was a long or short fur, and as I am still learning about cats, I did think that he was medium to long fur and I thought wrong, but I will talk about that later. I told them that it was long fur, and they said it would cost around $110. Maximum, I asked. $120.
I decided to send Prince anyway even though its hundred over and I'm still a student and all that but its like me going to cut my hair at a well-known shop (known in Malaysia as well) and if I don't try, I won't know if it's good or not. Anyway it's not like a package where after you pay hundred over, you have to go back and all that. So with that mentality, Z and I cabbed over to Simpang Bedok.
When the a staff took over the carrier from Z, he was like, 'Woah'. Prince is really heavy. The staff then said that Prince was actually more like short hair so he could just trim the fur a little bit for me as well but they would charge me for basic grooming instead of the full grooming price. How much? $50, which I think is reasonable.
We brought the Prince into the grooming room and then watched him for a while before leaving for lunch.
One thing I would like to point out is that I love how PLC's grooming outlets' grooming rooms always lets the customers see their pets through the clear glass. Not saying other grooming shops are not like that but when I say see through clear glass, I mean see the whole room through the clear glass. You can see everything from outside. I've been to the one at EastPoint and you see the groomer bathing the dog and all that. The one at Vivocity as well. The one at Simpang Bedok was like.. you know how a room has 4 walls? You have access to 3 walls, you can see EVERYTHING. Literally. Okay maybe I was exaggerating about EastPoint and Vivocity's outlet but at Simpang you can see everything.
You can see the groomer bathing your cat, your cat's face, your cat's pissed face, your cat looking at you through the glass and you think he's probably telling me 'I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU' and the likes, your cat getting blow-dried, your cat's fur floating all around the grooming room and going 'OH SHIT' in your head because you're guilty.. and the groomer sneezing (even though he was wearing a mask). Btw I could also hear Prince screaming and he jumped off the table a few times. And it was really funny although I do hope that the groomer earns more money for grooming a cat.
After the grooming, he didn't look any different but after a few days when I was observing Prince, I saw the difference. His chest is nicer now, there isn't a lot of stray hair poking out of everywhere from his fur, his tail is nicer, shaved paws (this one I saw the groomer doing, Prince luckily doesn't mind), shaved belly (this one I also saw the groomer doing but for this, his colleague had to hold Prince JIC I think).
Very satisfied, $50 well spent. I asked the groomer if Prince bit or scratched him, he said Prince didn't but he was just angry. Hahahahahaha, Prince looks really funny when he's pissed. The groomer also said he didn't clip Prince's nails at the back because it wasn't very sharp, it was a good to know information and I think even though it wasn't something serious, it was good that he informed us.

Brought Prince out.
Decided to end this post with this very funny picture of a stray sunning his paw and his paw only. I was nearby bedok bus interchange and I came across this, so I took a quick picture. The cat was really falling asleep like that with his eyes closed for so long.
There is it's friend sleeping in the shade.
