New cat!!

I know I haven't blogged in a while but that is due to the stupid google+ function that keeps prompting and insisting that I join google+ but no, I do not want it due to personal reasons. Google+ does not know how to give up and it is a big, fat, truckload full of annoying.

On 15th January, just recently, actually, H and I came across this beautiful tabby (looks like seal point?) kitten. Okay, maybe not a kitten but its either:
  1. I subconsciously compared the stray to Prince and yes, Prince is huge (vet says he might have maine coon blood in him) so therefore, I declared her a kitten. Or,
  2. She's just small-looking to me compared to other strays around the area. Now, I am not sure is this even earns a place to reason number 1 but whatever.
It was my first time seeing her at all in the area. I'm sure I would have remembered a pretty little kitten like that.

Her ears were tipped, so she's definitely a stray. The tip was quite obvious too, don't know which vet so jealous that he/she couldn't keep her so decided to make the tip so obvious when he/she was doing the sterilisation operation. Wth man.

Here she is,
One of the first few pictures I got of her.

Then we decided that she was going to come home (not really my home but still home) with me to live with Prince. I think in this picture, her tipped left ear is pretty obvious now.
TOO obvious, actually. >:(

Not that I find it ugly and mind and all that, maybe just a little bit.

Ya fine I do. But I don't mind there's no way to untip that now is there.

This picture was taken a few days after Prince and newly named Snowbelle got associated with each other's smell. I started to give them treats when they are in sight of each other.

Surprisingly, Prince did not give as much aggressive reaction to Snowbelle even tho he did it to other strays that we brought up to the house. None of those strays dared to come in anyway, with Prince hissing and growling like his life depended on it.

Snowbelle was named by H. Initially it was Snow. Then we started to think of pretty flowery names for her, literally. But we couldn't find anything that looked like it suited her so we stuck to Snow until H decided to add 'belle' at the back of her name.
Yes, Belle with an 'e'. I double-checked with H to make sure.

Thinking about it, if I don't get her to recognise her name, I'd have to start calling her anything that comes to my mind so if she likes that word, she will choose it as her name.

Just like Prince, then. Prince was originally named Mister Fluffers by the SPCA and before that I was looking for a cat that I would like to name 'susu' which means milk in malay.

Now, don't judge me. Yes I chose the name for a cat first and then a real cat that would fit the name second. I know the order is wrong but it didn't follow through and H decided that Prince would come home with us, and with a fluffy cat looking so majestic as hell, a mere 'susu' will not do for a name. H did not let me name him susu.

And apparently, Prince agreed with H because when H decided to name him Prince, Prince turned. Everytime we say his name, he turns. Idiot cat thinking he's so atas and all. I wonder if he looks down on Snowbelle now, thinking that she's just going to stay here for a while becos she has no home and all that shit okay I'm getting carried away.

Oh yes, before I forget, that picture up there is Prince falling asleep and snuggling by my bag as usual while Snowbelle is uneasy and keeps peeping at him. Prince is ignoring her.

Other times when Prince is in the room and on the bed, Snowbelle takes to hiding under the other bed. (There is two single beds in H's room.)

Caught Snowbelle sleeping like this the other day, and I thought it looked really cute.

Got closer and tried to take another photo from the sideview. Too cute!!!

I was annoying her today and I guess she got tired of flipping from side to side until she stayed like this. For maybe around 1 minute.

And then her face was like this for a while too, long enough for me a snap a quick one before I put my finger into her mouth and she tried to bite me to pieces. Did not succeed.

Got distracted with an old-school toy that I bought H. Look at that pretty face.
(I'll try to rotate my pictures before uploading them next time. For now, just tilt your head to the left, 90 degrees.)

There's this small little ledge that is maybe the length of my thumb at the window. Snowbelle looks out sometimes and this is how she does it. After a while I will start bringing her to the park for walks with Prince but not until Prince and Snowbelle are comfortable with each other.

Okay right now the strays under my block are screaming and making scary children screaming voices and it is 4am. Bye.

Decided to do something about the noise and yup, a little water does do the trick.

Review on Hartz Dentist's Best Dental Treats and Fancy Feast wet food

I'm not one who's an expert on cats and their nutrition and treats and all that but here's prince's take on the new dental treat: Hartz Dentist's Best Dental Treats.

I bought the chicken flavoured one because there was only flavour available there. There should be a picture of the front and back of the treats. I'm not sure if it's uploaded sideways because I'm blogging with my Samsung Galaxy S4 therefore I don't know how to rotate and arrange it and all that. I'm sure it's not hard to figure out anyway hahaha

Anyway I also uploaded a picture of a picture of the treats, they're the ones with the small heart shaped light brown looking biscuits with green filling the middle.

Prince is not what I would say a fussy eater but if he doesn't like it, he won't eat it. When he was adopted from spca, the staff told us his wet food brand is fancy feast. I bought fussie cat and gave it to him a few times but he just didn't touch it. He would rather starve than eat it. I fed it to the strays after that. The wet food was meant for the strays anyway.

But when I gave it to him the first time last night, he ate about half of it but at least he ate it. I threw away the other half. When I opened the can of fancy feast earlier, he came running from the sound of the can opening and meowed. He doesn't even meow this much for kibbles.

So anyway, I scooped half of it out and kept the remaining half in the fridge for tmrw night.

He finished it btw. Just left about two pieces in his bowl. I think he's sick of his kibbles alrd.

About the dental treats, prince looks crazy about it so I know he won't get sick of it easily like other cheap treats from Japan which Pet Lovers Centre sell for less than 5 dollars if I can rembr. I'll also be checking his teeth to see if the dental treats are working and there aren't any plague on his teeth and all that.

Btw the dental treats cost me SGD9.10 (still new to my S4, don't know how to find the dollar sign) and I think it's a little bit expensive but there's quite a lot of treats inside and it's small too so it's easy.

I say expensive because I'm a student and this is coming out of my own pocket.

Here, sorry about the photos being not in order or arranged properly. Like I said I'm blogging from my phone.

If you want to see prince eating the dental treats, he can prove that it is finger licking good. (He licked my fingers after that and he only does it to some of favourite treats)

My YouTube channel is koriccy. I haven't uploaded the video yet but I'll definitely do it very soon.

If anyone really needs to know, I recommend it because I can tell prince won't get sick of it for quite some time. Or you can check back to see when I blog about him getting sick of it. So until then, the 9.10 is probably worth it.

Prince's first grooming

Yessss, I haven't posted for a long, long time but since it's my holidays, here I am, backing to blogging.

Also, since I had time now, I finally got around to baking the rainbow cheesecake with oreo base. Didn't mix crushed oreos into the batter this time because I thought that it wouldn't look good. Anyways, I used 5 colours instead of 7 because I couldnt find all 7 colours. I did thought of mixing the food colouring after that but there wasn't enough batter anyway.

I used pink, orange, green, blue and purple. Here is the outcome of the cake.

Well, yes, you can see the brown area and brown spots and all, thats the slightly burned area but I am proud of the final product nonetheless.

I forgot to take a picture of a nice fat one so I got a friend to take picture of it for me. I gave her a few slices but I don't know why she took the picture of the thin slice instead. I had fat, big slices but anyway the main point is you can see the colours from the side. You can't really see the purple but it is really, really nice.

I love mee soto and I have been recommended to the most probably cheapest and good mee soto I know. Go to the hawker centre near bedok interchange/mrt - I think it's called bedok central but I'm not sure. There is only one row of malay stalls at the back of the hawker centre, and you go to Inspirasi.

Their mee soto is only $2. The chicken is not dry like other mee sotos that I have tasted and I am sure that you can see from the photo how good the chicken looks. And they're really generous with the chicken. The soup is thick enough to taste the flavour as well but it's still slightly clear. I have no idea how to make soup like this but then again, I'm still learning.

Btw the egg doesn't come with the mee soto if you're wondering. Never came across a mee soto that has eggs in it, I just added the egg because I wanted it. 50 cents.

Did I mention that I brought Prince for grooming recently? I think it was 2 weeks ago already.

I personally think that it isn't easy finding a cheap and good grooming place for cats. That was before I started to search for cat grooming places.

It isn't even easy to find a place that groom cats. I'm just saying that with the exception of PLC, as we all know, Pet Lovers Centre. Anyway, I decided to settle for PLC because I refused to go for Pets Tale or Tales or something like that at Eunos. That cat shop is beside Vegan Burg (vegetarian burger shop, good food, everyone must try it).

I remember the first time I went there and I got an unfriendly lady staff answering my questions about their food or products like if they sell this brand of cat food, how much is it? Do you have this brand of litter and all that general questions. If I am not wrong, she is probably the owner or the boss of some sort. I think she treated me in an unfriendly way because I'm young and she didn't really think of me as a serious customer like I was there to take a look and ask silly questions.

I told myself I will never go back to that shop again.

But then again, they sell persian kittens, and they have I think 2 persian cats that are theirs and the 2 cats just roam around the shop, welcoming customers and they are friendly, allowing customers (like me) who cannot keep their hands to themselves (like me) because they cannot resist (me, again) these cute ball of fluffs, to pet and stroke them.

(No, I do not know how much they are selling the persian kittens for. You can go online and check if you want. Its Pets Tales or Pets Tale. Just play around with the 's', you'll get it. Its beside Vegan Burg if you still can't find it.)

Anyway I only visited that shop again because I had lunch at Vegan Burg that day with Z and his friend, and that friend loves cats as well. He even bought Prince a small bag of catweed (catnip).

Back to the point, PLC. I called and booked an appointment with the outlet at Simpang Bedok. I enquired about the prices and asked how much would it be for full grooming for my cat. They asked if my cat was a long or short fur, and as I am still learning about cats, I did think that he was medium to long fur and I thought wrong, but I will talk about that later. I told them that it was long fur, and they said it would cost around $110. Maximum, I asked. $120.

I decided to send Prince anyway even though its hundred over and I'm still a student and all that but its like me going to cut my hair at a well-known shop (known in Malaysia as well) and if I don't try, I won't know if it's good or not. Anyway it's not like a package where after you pay hundred over, you have to go back and all that. So with that mentality, Z and I cabbed over to Simpang Bedok.

When the a staff took over the carrier from Z, he was like, 'Woah'. Prince is really heavy. The staff then said that Prince was actually more like short hair so he could just trim the fur a little bit for me as well but they would charge me for basic grooming instead of the full grooming price. How much? $50, which I think is reasonable.

We brought the Prince into the grooming room and then watched him for a while before leaving for lunch.

One thing I would like to point out is that I love how PLC's grooming outlets' grooming rooms always lets the customers see their pets through the clear glass. Not saying other grooming shops are not like that but when I say see through clear glass, I mean see the whole room through the clear glass. You can see everything from outside. I've been to the one at EastPoint and you see the groomer bathing the dog and all that. The one at Vivocity as well. The one at Simpang Bedok was like.. you know how a room has 4 walls? You have access to 3 walls, you can see EVERYTHING. Literally. Okay maybe I was exaggerating about EastPoint and Vivocity's outlet but at Simpang you can see everything.

You can see the groomer bathing your cat, your cat's face, your cat's pissed face, your cat looking at you through the glass and you think he's probably telling me 'I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU' and the likes, your cat getting blow-dried, your cat's fur floating all around the grooming room and going 'OH SHIT' in your head because you're guilty.. and the groomer sneezing (even though he was wearing a mask). Btw I could also hear Prince screaming and he jumped off the table a few times. And it was really funny although I do hope that the groomer earns more money for grooming a cat.

After the grooming, he didn't look any different but after a few days when I was observing Prince, I saw the difference. His chest is nicer now, there isn't a lot of stray hair poking out of everywhere from his fur, his tail is nicer, shaved paws (this one I saw the groomer doing, Prince luckily doesn't mind), shaved belly (this one I also saw the groomer doing but for this, his colleague had to hold Prince JIC I think).

Very satisfied, $50 well spent. I asked the groomer if Prince bit or scratched him, he said Prince didn't but he was just angry. Hahahahahaha, Prince looks really funny when he's pissed. The groomer also said he didn't clip Prince's nails at the back because it wasn't very sharp, it was a good to know information and I think even though it wasn't something serious, it was good that he informed us.

Simpang Bedok: 6449 5194 (Outlet)
Grooming: 6448 9573 (For grooming at Simpang Bedok)

Brought Prince out.

Decided to end this post with this very funny picture of a stray sunning his paw and his paw only. I was nearby bedok bus interchange and I came across this, so I took a quick picture. The cat was really falling asleep like that with his eyes closed for so long.

There is it's friend sleeping in the shade.

Prince really stretched when he saw me. He was waiting for me at the door and when he saw me he woke up.

No, he didnt have a lion tail cut kind of thing, it was just that his tail is so fluffy that when he stretched, he didnt have enough space where he was so his tail fur was somehow folded in, giving the illusion that his tail fur was cut that way.

But I would love to make his tail look like that though. Only problem is that his dad doesnt approve.

Bought new toys for prince from pet lovers centre and so far from the range of toys he has, I sort of think that he prefers those that has a long string attached the a stick and a small toy that is attached to the end of the string. And he prefers bells because then he is more alert, although when he hunts roaches they dont make any sound but thats a whole different thing.

The first and second picture shows the same toy and that is his favourite. It was worth the $3.50 (if I remember correctly) because even though the stick is thin and flimsy, it doesnt break easily. And the string is made of cloth, unlike daiso's which is made of a thin elastic string.

I accidentally sat on the daiso's stick and it broke, but anyway I can make my own thick cloth string and attach the toy mouse to the string myself. Im going to stuff some catnip into it before letting prince play with it. He goes crazy over that, and not forgetting the bells. Prince loves bells, thats what I concluded.

His favourite toy has feathers attached to the end of it and I keep telling him not to eat the feathers just in case he is really that stupid to eat it. But once the feathers goes into his mouth, he spits it out and chews a bit instead, at least it isnt in his fat stomach. :)

This toy is going to last long, hopefully.

Cats being cats, prince sleeps for what seems like forever to gain the energy back. I heard that cats only have a sudden burst of energy for 10 minutes twice a day. The other times they will just be snoozing. And we all thought cats were lazy even though not all are.

BUT PRINCE IS.

Just going to do a quick post even though I have so many other things I want to post about.

This oreo cheesecake got me 30 likes on instagram! I think this is the third time I baked it but I still want to bake it again until I think I perfect it because it is so darn easy. I got the recipe from here and I've changed the recipe a little bit but they're small changes like adding extra oreos and stuff.

I even tried using this recipe to bake an orange cheesecake, just that I didnt use any oreos except for the biscuit base. This recipe is so easy I dont know how to even mess this up. And I thought baking a cheesecake was difficult!

This is called the Traditional Scalloped Potatoes. Dont know why its called that. I got the recipe from Snapguide.

Snapguide is an app (Im not sure if android has it but im using an iphone) which people can share what they love doing, and they teach you step by step using not only texts, but also pictures and videos. Anyone can upload a guide, I wanted to try the app out so I did a simple guide and I included a video and pictures, with captions of course. There isnt any limit to the number of videos you can post.

Snapguide is free btw.

Anyway, I love potatoes and even though the recipe didnt call for it, I added carrots. I love how the carrots are soft after baking, not that hard and crunchy even after you stir-fry it or something because the carrot taste is too strong, for me.

See that browned 'skin' on top? I added cheese before baking it. I have also baked this a few times and I've changed the recipe to my own liking.

If anyone wants the recipe, I'll gladly give it to you, so that once you know how to bake this, you can bake it for me. :)

This is scrambled eggs with hotdogs and cheese. Come to think of it, I think I should have sprinkled some black pepper on top before taking this picture. But anyway I think this got me 27 likes in instagram! That isnt the point, the point is, I already have 67 people who favourited my guide in Snapguide that shares how I cook this. 67 strangers and still counting!

Going to upload photos of prince playing with his new toy in my next post.

Took the picture of the arowana within the hour it was put into it's new tank. Still learning about arowanas, so I have no idea if this is a male or a female. It was really active cause I think it was trying to settle into its new home and my iphone camera cant keep up with it, so the pictures are blurred and the tail cant be seen properly in both pictures but you get my point.

Z got it for $25 even though it isnt in its best condition - it just got into a comm (community tank) fight. I guess it couldnt get along with the other fishes hahaha. But its Z's first arowana so Z didnt mind of course. Its a silver arowana, about 9 inches. I went to collect the aro at Pasir Ris on Tuesday and i was shocked to see that it was actually quite big (to me) even though I know people who have bigger ones.

I told Z it had to be fed small frogs and Z said that Roberta's (the flowerhorn) pellets would suffice but first and second day passed and Z got worried cause Z threw in a cube of frozen worms but all the aro did was NOT eat it. Z said they could go without food for up to 3 months the longest Z had heard.

So yesterday was the second day the aro was with Z, he seemed more calm and was swimming around slowly. Last night Z told me that the aro kept jumping.

I wonder if the aro jumped out of the tank when no one is home, would prince eat the aro or would he try to save it, since when no one is home, prince is kept in his room and the aro's tank is in his room too. I told Z that prince would eat the aro, cant remember what Z thought but I think Z said that prince would save it. I highly doubt that.

This is my safyre hamster which i got from Pets Lovers Centre at simei. He cost me $13 and its my first time buying a hamster. All my previous hamsters were abandoned or found. Really.

One day in sec 3, after school, I was walking with my friend to her house, then we walked past some squeaking bag at a void deck and I opened it. I found 7 adult hamsters and 4 newborn pink hairless babies in a tiny cage. Dont know which idiot wanted to throw them like that. I knew they were abandoned - a boxful of beddings, hamster food, and everything else a hamster needs is all in the box.

Anyway it was pretty obvious that someone was desperate.

I managed to rehome all the hamster except for the 4 babies and I randomly chose a hamster to keep with them cause they still needed milk and all that. They were that young. I hoped that it was a female cause that time I was new to hamsters and I didnt know how to tell them apart.

Luckily it was a female and I named her Korey. She never bit me and she was my favourite hamster. Anyway, I managed to rehome 2 of the 4 babies and so I had 3 hamsters. I had to separate Korey from the younger 2 because the younger ones bully Korey, so Korey had her own cage. But she died of old age after 1 or 2 years.

See this fathead and how he sleeps. So lazy, even though I find it kind of cute but most of the time Prince is always sleeping. See how he uses his hand to rest his head on just like a human being. After that he always walks funny after just waking up but a few minutes later he's alright, so Z concluded that maybe he had cramps and I think so too.

Prince is so stripey look at his arms. He is a tabby after all.

This is an ikan puyu, I cant remember what it means and Im lazy to google it now but it has been said that if a spirit enters a house, this fish will keep jumping out of the water, as if to alert its owners. This is Z's.

Wait for the food part, right now I only have to blog about pets hahaha.

Flowerhorn for sale

This is Love's flowerhorn, he got it when it was a tiny fish, like when it was a fraction of this size, for $8, 4 months ago. He wanted a male but all the flowerhorns were too young to be able to tell their gender, so he just picked any one that looked nice and prayed hard it was a male.

Love pumped the fish and fed it good food, all the humpy head pellets and hikari brand kind of food. And also with frozen bloodworms and everything. He did water change for his fish every 3 days. The fish's name is Robert.

There was just a sudden obsession when he saw the baby flowerhorns in the fish shop, so he decided to get it. He showered it with tender loving care. Robert grew very fast and soon he was transferred to a bigger tank, where Love hoped that the hump on his head would grow soon, being fed humpy head pellets and all.

Love noticed a white thing coming out from Robert's anus and decided to research about it online. Some people said it was a female but he didnt believe them. They say to check if its a female is to squeeze the anus area of Robert to check if that was the eggs, so to confirm if Robert was a female.

We all thought that this would traumatise the fish in some way if we squeezeed it or something, so it has been like that for around 1 month?

Today, Love and Love's cousin decided to check. They squeezed the anus.

Eggs came out. Its not Robert anymore, its Roberta. Love is devastated.

We played sad songs like Dont Cry by Gunz and Roses cause Love looked so sad.

So anyone wants a beautiful healthy female flowerhorn? :)

This is Prince today! I tried folding ketupat with ribbons and Love's cousin tied it on his head.

Right now there is a flying cockroach in the living room and everyone is having a great panic except for me and Prince cause Prince is sleeping now (as usual). Going to join the fun :)
